Priorities

As a dedicated advocate for Offaly, I am committed to addressing our communities' pressing challenges. The rising cost of living, coupled with the ongoing challenges faced by businesses and farmers, highlights the urgent need for targeted support. I believe that our rural areas, the heart and soul of Offaly, deserve the investment and resources necessary to thrive. By prioritising these key areas – cost of living, business and farming, and rural development – we can create a more equitable and prosperous future for everyone in the County.

A CALL FOR ACTION

WORKING FOR OFFALY

Cost of Living
PRIORITY
Cost of Living
Even though the economy is doing well, many people are still finding it hard to make ends meet. Bills like electricity and gas are still high, and going to the doctor or paying for medicine is a struggle for many families.

While childcare costs have gotten better, it’s still difficult for some to find places for their children. We need to do more to make education, healthcare, and services for the elderly and disabled easier to access so that everyone can enjoy a good quality of life.
PRIORITY
BUSINESS & FARMING
Running a small business or a farm isn’t easy right now. Profits are tight, and families worry about passing things on to the next generation. There’s also more pressure to go digital, follow new rules, and reduce emissions, which takes up time and money.

These businesses and farms are the backbone of our community. I’ll fight to make sure they get the support they need, and that any decisions made by the government are done with their input, so there are no surprises.

PRIORITY
RURAL DEVELOPMENT
I’ve worked hard to bring investment and improvements to places like Kinnitty and Slieve Bloom, and I want to see the same for every town and village in Offaly.

Strong, thriving rural areas are crucial to our future. With the right funding and resources, we can create good jobs and keep our communities alive by investing in local projects and looking after what we already have.
